sometimes....

sometimes, you wish you had said "that something" that would have made it more clear.
sometimes, you wish you had managed your time better.
sometimes, you wish all your loved ones were in ONE place instead of 4/5/6.
sometimes, you don't wish you had wished at all.

other times, you wish you hadn't said "that something" that KILLED the conversation.
other times, you wish that you could have been more relaxed.
other times, you're quite alright to be away from your "loved" ones.  :)
other times, you wish you had wished more.  even more.

there are some things in life that money just can't buy.

for everything else, there's MASTERCARD.

santa barbara and more...

the santa barbara beach front is just about the most beautiful thing i've ever seen.  (one of them at least).  it's amazingly beautiful around sunset time, when the sun's waning beams shine on to the soft, green rolling hills along the coast.  there's nothing better than gazing onto the beauty with people you love.

missionaries need their own personal secretary.  i've concluded that much.  writing thank you cards is fun, but DANG it's a lot of work!  and after the first 10 thank you cards, they get...well...uneventful.  you run out of funny and witty ways to say thank you.

question of the day:  why is everything in america about bulk, or 2 for 1 or MORE is better?  beats me.

bringing back boo's and bravo's:

BOO's:  1)  overcast mornings, where you never really know how the rest of the day's going to turn out  2)  chronic sore throat ish/raspy throat.  3)   making money but not being able to deposit it anywhere because of banks that are not national  :(  BOOOO

BRAVO's:  1)  10 avocados for 1 dollar! what can be better?  2)  fun in the sun!  3)  gooooood guacamole.  mmmmmm

murphy's law

so, you KNEW that there was bound to be a post about this.  murphy's law.  it's just true.  i don't know exactly WHAT it all entails, but...case in point:  read on. it's pretty short.

lydia and friends decide to go to the beach.  the day we end up going to the beach, it's...overcast and cloudy.

yup.  pretty much, that's what happens.  every time i go to the beach, it's overcast.  what is UP WITH THAT?!?!?!?  the whole point for going to the beach is to see the sun?

ai ya.  that's what.

well, let's hope for a good 2 days in santa barbara.

it's a love...HAAATE...relationship...

sorry to use such a strong word in the title of this entry, but really.  that defines how i feel towards my computer right now.  actually, to technology in general right now.

problem:  a virus or something caused my windows user account to start acting up.  when i minimized windows, the windows just diappeared.  anyhow.  so, troubleshooter said that it's possible that it's just a malfunction of the user account and to rid the computer of the problem, all you have to do is delete the user account.

so, i delete the user account. before i deleted it, i transferred all the files to the new user account, but my hard drive ran out of room, so the transfer was not completed (i was not aware of this).  so...uh, yeah.  partial file transfer.

umm. so, i thought it was a complete file transfer, so i deleted the folder with all the old files in it.  next morning, ready to pull up some spreadsheets and get mailing labels made...umm.  NO FILES to pull from.

conclusion:  i lost 3gb+ itunes songs.  i lost all my ELIC China contact information.

reflection:  worst day ever.  the love relationship with my computer quickly turned into a hate relationship.

response:  i will ALWAYS make a backup file.  in fact, i think i will go to Fry's and buy a portable external hard drive and bring it with me to China.

other information for the week:  i still don't know my placement in China.  apparently, placements have gone very slowly this time around.  i will find out for reals 1) end of this week or 2) beginning of next week.  i've waited for months.  what's another 1 wk?

organ concert:  blow you away.  hector olivera.  check it out.  he is a prodigy/genius/passionate organist.

updates on the trans siberian railway tour:  still scheming and researching and REALLY wanting still, to go.  batman is interested in coming too!  WOOT WOOT!  that means i need to recruit some girls...  the train tickets from beijing to moscow:  around $300.  catch a train from berlin to the nederlands.  it'll probably end up being close to $1,000.  including room and board and stuff, when we're in the cities we pass by.

any suggestions or ideas?  has anyone DONE the tour before??

it's annoying when you can't talk to someone who's just a phone call away because you're too busy.  k, we'll talk SOON.  i'm too busy too.

bach's passacaglia in c minor.  my new love.  praise God for people he created with such passion and skill to create an entire 10 minute piece with a 2 measure theme in the pedals.  ahhhhh.  it's too much for me to handle!!!

as bach signed all his manuscripts:  soli deo gloria.  sdg.
